Nairobi

Nairobi is Kenya’s capital and largest city and The name comes from the Masaii phrase ‘Enkare Nairobi’ which translates to ‘Cool Water’, a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The city is home to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust where you can witness the amazing work that is done to protect and rehabilitate orphaned elephants as well as having its own National Park on its doorstep.

Amboseli National Park

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

Loisaba Conservancy

Loisaba is a 57,000 acre wildlife conservancy and working ranch located in Northern Laikipia, Kenya, East Africa. The two permanent rivers and abundant permanent springs make Loisaba attractive to wildlife throughout the year.

The Loisaba Community Trust, together with it’s partners, continues to ensure Loisaba remains a catalyst for community development, a hub for wildlife research, and a world-class ecotourism destination offering unique opportunities for guests to become part of the Loisaba story both during their visit and for years to come.

Loisaba is also part of a larger story that extends well beyond its borders. It sits on the western edge of one of Kenya’s most important elephant movement corridors. Keeping this land, and a 15 million acre landscape of nearby community lands intact and functioning for wildlife, livestock, and northern Kenya’s pastoralist people is being achieved largely through creating community conservancies boarding Loisaba.

Masai Mara National Reserve

The Masai Mara National Reserve is not a national park but a reserve as it has belonged to the Maasai since the 17th century. It’s one of the most popular reserves in Africa. A Maasai village visit is essential in order to understand the culture and simple way of life.
The game viewing in this region is spectacular with morning, afternoon and night drives offered. The most famous sighting is the Great Migration which takes place in July and August every year. A hot-air balloon ride at sunrise shows this magnificent splendour from a whole new perspective.
