Ecolodge La Estancia

Accommodation consists of 15 cottage homes/suites which have been constructed to be sustainable and eco-friendly. The rooms were built in a sustainable way and respectful with the environment. The cabins were built by members of the Aymara community of La Estancia, using wood, stones, adobe and straw from the surrounding area. All rooms have private bathrooms, floors  of black stone to accumulate heat, water recycling programs and roofing with straw.

A buffet breakfast and a set meal for dinner are included daily. Ecolodge La Estancia also has a restaurant and bar on site, where guests will be able to savour local dishes and drinks while soaking up the undisturbed views of the lake.

Guests at the property can also take part in activities, such as hiking, mystical ceremonies, archeological tours, as well as other cultural exchanges. La Virgen Morena and Copacabana are 1 hour away by boat. Both Pilkokaina Ruins and Yumani Bay are 20 minutes away by boat. El Alto airport is 3.5 hours away by car.

The ecological shelter La Estancia is built on the mythical island of the sun of Bolivia on Lake Titicaca. The Ecolodge is located in the southeast area of the island, near the community of La Estancia, from which it takes its name. It is an ecotourism project that represents and preserves the traditions of the local Aymara culture. The hotel has a comprehensive solid waste management system that classifies waste and suitable treatments are then applied. Through this solid waste management system they are able to generate organic fertiliser, which is later used in the gardens and greenhouse to develop the growth of our organic production. La Estancia provides both permanent and subcontracted employment opportunities for people of the different communities. This way they successfully manage to integrate the lodge into communities and promote economic and social growth.
