The Thala Villa consists of two charming bedrooms, each with tropical garden showers and numerous sofas that can be converted into beds, this villa is one of our best for sleeping families, big groupings and gatherings of friends. It’s named after Thalawila – a nearby village – home to St. Anne’s Church, which hosts the island’s biggest Catholic festival every August. Not only that, but it’s the perfect pitch for a little party on the Alankuda Beach.

Amidst beautiful natural surroundings, individually landscaped for each property, is where you’ll find these lovely, eco-friendly Garden Cabanas. With a double bedroom opening out onto a front porch, a built-in seating area and an open-air cascade shower under a coconut palm, making you feel one with nature. The gentle rustling of the palm fronds amid soft golden rays together with the feel of the ocean sand beneath your feet will awaken your mind to a feeling of blissful relaxation.

These beautiful Beach Cabanas are situated on the beach with lateral views of the shoreline and gardens. The double bedroom opens out onto a front porch with a built-in seating area with a separate bathroom and shower contained within the private garden.

The Beach Club is a cosy little restaurant, and juice bar, where guests can sit back, relax and sip on the delicious juices or sunset cocktails. The beach club comes alive in the evenings as the warm lights set the ambience for a relaxing night out by the ocean, where the gentle breeze and the aroma of the culinary preparations leave you feeling perfectly at ease. The rustic and bohemian blend in the design and architecture of the Beach Club creates a romantic and inviting atmosphere in which to relax and unwind.

Your boat ride will take you across the pristine waters of the Lagoon in Kalpitiya, towards the sand dunes and Salt Pans in a distance. The little fishing villages and local community living on the border of the Lagoon, the stretch between the lagoon and the mighty ocean will let you see the hard work that the locals put in to earn their livelihood,  from the locally available natural resources. Shrimp farms which are a booming business in the Lagoon area of Kalpitiya can be observed in a distance.

For the Nature lovers young and old, the time spent on the boat will give you a delightful surprise of the Marine life in the Lagoon. One can have a closer look at the diversity of Flora, Fauna, and birds endemic as well as other common creatures to the area that make the Lagoon their habitat.

Come and explore Sri Lankas National Park, Wilpattu. The park is located in the northwest coast low land dry zone, roughly a one-hour drive from Bar Reef Resort. Wilpattu, is renowned as Sri Lanka’s largest National Park and is one of the oldest National parks. It was declared a National park in the year 1935. Though it was a Sanctuary before this period and the jungles existence is also written in the country’s ancient history.

There are many types of vegetation to be found in Wilpattu; Littoral vegetation, including Salt grass and low scrub monsoon forest with tall emergent. Wilapattu in the meaning of its name captures what it entails, a land of many lakes. Among Sri Lanka’s National Parks Wilpattu National Park is unique with its Biodiversity, with over 25 species of mammals, unique Flora and Birds being found in Wilpattu Jungles.

The Bar Reef in Alankuda, in particular, will leave you mesmerised by the beauty and wonders beneath the waves you will experience while snorkelling in Alankuda. If you’d love to float around and explore the pristine blue ocean then this is the place to do so, with beautiful coral formations, bursting with colourful marine life unique to the tropical ocean waters of Sri Lanka. You can be guaranteed to spot a myriad species of fish and other interesting tropical inhabitants, such as Molluscs, Manta Rays, Sea Turtles and Reef Sharks. A short boat ride will take you to the best snorkelling sites in Alankuda-Kalpitiya. You will be briefed on the use of equipment and safety measures, before experiencing your snorkelling exploration.
