Nestled between lush, tropical gardens, with 35 inviting rooms await you. The 6 bungalows, 6 ocean front units, 22 superior rooms and the four-bedroom-suite, (maximum 8 people) are spacious, furnished with local materials and decorated with regional craftsmanship and antique photographs from Costa Rica. All of them overlook exuberant tropical gardens, face towards the ocean and feature a balcony or terrace and king size beds with a tailor made mosquito net for those who prefer it; in addition they each have a comfortable sitting area with a queen size sofa bed (except the 2 Beachfront Garden Rooms) and sliding doors to let the refreshing ocean breeze in.

El Barco is located directly on the beach and offers a tranquil ambiance. The breakfast buffet and a la carte lunch and dinner menu, with a mixed cuisine of international dishes and traditional Costa Rican cuisine, can be enjoyed daily. The beach offers opportunities for surfers of all levels to enjoy the waves at this part of the world. Take your own surfboard or rent one directly at the hotel. Right in front of the hotel is a perfect spot for beginners. Whether you are new to the sport or not, the hotel also offers surf classes with an instructor. Also available is complementary boogie boards for you or your children to play safely on the waves.

Take a kayak out onto the sea and explore Capitán island and the Tamarindo Bay. It is the best way to enjoy the ocean whilst seeing some beautiful sights the bay has to offer. It will give you the opportunity to observe wildlife including wading birds, monkeys and the ecosystem of the mangrove forest.

Explore and visit different canals, watch and learn about the natural history of the wildlife that inhabits this area like the different mangrove species, water birds, monkeys and crocodiles on this early morning two hour boat ride.

Ride through the hills on the back of a horse, over pasture areas and riversides. You will be able to spot birds, howler monkeys and exotic plants from the dry forest. You will also have the opportunity to pass by a typical Guanacastecan village. The other option is to ride along the beach (Brasilito and Puerto Viejo). A truly unforgettable experience!

If you want an adrenaline rush try one of the many zip lining adventures right on your door step. Soar through the tops of trees where you will be gliding by cable lines connected to platforms built in the treetops. If your more comfortable on foot walk the trails and hikes of all the nearby national parks. Tours of forests, hills and volcanoes are available.

You will enjoy visiting different beautiful beaches that this region offers or you will drive by the tropical dry forest. If you choose to Scuba Dive your destination is the Catalina Islands; one of the best diving spots in Costa Rica. Divers will encounter warm water, very good visibility and the fantastic diversity of tropical aqua fauna.

What better way to see the sea, then by boat! Enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the Pacific beaches on board a sailboat / catamaran. While sailing in the Tamarindo Bay the boat will border Playa Grande until reaching a good area to take a refreshing swim or snorkel; it is possible to see dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life. To round off the trip you will get to witness an incredible sunset on the sea!

In order to stimulate the social and economic development of its inhabitants the hotel contributes to the development of the Tamarindo community and other nearby towns through activities, projects or grants that are handled through organised groups, community organisations or government institutions. • The green areas of Hotel Capitán Suizo are 100% organic. They are maintained with organic fertilizers and free of pesticides, they represent a biological corridor and habitat for wildlife; that provide wildlife and native species with food, rest and/or reproduction sites.
• The artificial lighting of the hotel was chosen carefully, as well as it’s location on the property, it does not alter the natural environment nor does it disturb wildlife behaviour.
• To allow an atmosphere of tranquillity and harmony, the areas in which noise is generated through the maintenance and development of furniture are away from wildlife habitats and the premises of guests.
