House in the Wild has an on-site dining area, bar and lounge so there’s no need to travel anywhere. Guests can dine around the fire or under the stars in the evenings, have a bush breakfast prepared after a morning drive, or even take out a fully prepared picnic. All dietary needs are taken care of by the chefs.

Guests at House in the Wild are welcome to explore the estate and meet the team. They can even join in and help with day-to-day activities such as:

• Milking cows
• Beekeeping
• Tree planting
• Helping with conservation work

Hop in for both daytime and nighttime drives in open top safari cars to see the vibrant range of wildlife on the conservancy.

Or stretch your legs and get to know the estate even more closely. Look out for animal tracks and local flowers.

Founded by Lippa and Tarquin Wood. Visit to ‘learn about rangeland management’ and the efforts by House in the Wild ‘to work with local communities to restore and maintain the natural environment through Sustainable Rangeland Management.’

See the restoration of trees on the river bank. Guests can plant their own trees and balance out their carbon footprint and contribute to the developing eco-system.

Try fishing for catfish on the banks of the Mara river any time of the day. If successful, by all means take a snapshot but please then release the fish back into the river.

Make use of the lodge’s on-site tennis court. Balls and rackets are provided.

Why not take part in a game of croquet or boules, or a round of rugby, or a bout of board games?

Meet the children of the Emarti Village. If you have any spare pens, pencils, footballs etc. bring them along and see them donated to the school.

Guests can enjoy a stroll with a rhino while accompanied by rangers

Spend an hour or two with the locals of the Maasai Village. Guests can learn about how residents make their huts and light their fires, hear local songs and buy some beautiful handmade jewellery to take home. If guests are looking for that especially immersive and authentic experience, they are welcome to spend the night with a Maasai family. Mosquito nets, bedding and mattresses are provided for safety and comfort.

Don’t miss out on a unique chance to see the Enonkishu Conservancy from above! Take a ‘scenic flight in a light aircraft’ out towards Governors Camp, where a safari car and a packed lunch will be waiting for you. You’ll be taken out for a drive across the Mara National Reserve and then fly back to Nateroi. Or take a once in a lifetime safari tour in a hot air balloon with exquisite views of the reserve and the Maasai Mora.

Fancy a different kind of safari ride?

Experience off-road travel through the Enonkishu Conservancy on boda boda motorbikes and finish up with breakfast served overlooking the Mamusi Dam.

Foods served in the restaurant, including vegatables, dairy, eggs, baked goods and meat, are locally and ethically sourced.

House in the Wild provides classes in conservation to local schools and works closely with Sustainable Rangeland Management to continue the ‘re-wilding process’ and increasing biodiversity.

The land around House in the Wild was once extensively farmed but in 2012 the team decided to turn this around and recreate a natural eco-system. Using herds of grazing animals and restoring natural water resources, ‘the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife.’

Water is recycled through an eco wetlands system. Single-use plastic bottles are not used on the property and all bottles and cartons are recycled.
