Located at the city centre of Xi’an, the Bell Tower marks the geographical centre of the ancient capital and was built in 1384 to dominate the surrounding countryside and provide an early warning of attack. The tower consists of two storeys inside of which a staircase spirals upwards with three layers of eaves to reduce the impact of rain on the building. A large 42 tonne bronze bell stands at the top of the tower at over 500 years old and was rung to mark the time during the night in Beijing to avoid waking the citizens. From the top of the tower, visitors can see views of the Drum Tower, see over the neighbourhood hutong rooftops and the skyscrapers of downtown Beijing.

Covering a total area of 4.67 hectares, Qujiang Polar Ocean Park is one of the largest polar ocean theme parks in China and consists of the ocean pavilion, polar pavilion and business street. The ocean pavilion displays freshwater and seawater life, animal feeding, and ocean-themed cultural performances. The polar pavilion displays animals such as polar bears, penguins, arctic wolves, seals, fur seals and more as well as dolphin and animal feeding performances. The Ocean Science Hall exhibits a sample of Bryde’s Whale and visitors can learn ocean knowledge from professional guides as well as children being able to make samples by themselves.

The Xi’an Botanical Garden is home to over 4000 species and consists of 11 areas: Silk Road Garden, Qinling Garden, Children’s Garden, Forgotten Garden, Hundred Flowers Garden, Water Garden, Rose Garden, Vine Garden, System Garden, Herb Garden, and Rock Garden. Visitors can observe many types of plants such as Victoria Amazonica in the water garden, Chinese Roses in the Silk Road Garden, Peony in the Hundred Flowers Garden, and much more. Visitors can explore the garden which puts on a variety of flower shows each year depending on the flowering seasons like Tulips Show in spring, Lotus Show in summer, Chrysanthemum Show in autumn and Plum Flower Show in winter.
