Tamarind Terrace is the hotel’s main dining option, serving a different themed buffet every day with options including Indian, Chinese and local cuisine. With their meals, guests can choose from a wide selection of international wines, Champagnes and cocktails, the latter being expertly created by famous French mixologist Matthias Giraud.

Your eyes will be just as satisfied as your stomach, as the terrace itself has magnificent views of Le Morne Mountain in daytime and the twinkling lights of Tamarin Village at night.

The Spices Restaurant is a Mediterranean-style restaurant, full of flavoursome dishes enhanced by an additional blend of exotic spices, making these dishes unique in their composition.

Pink Peppercorn is where you can enjoy incredible fresh sea food whilst sitting at a table with golden sand at your feet. The Indian Ocean is laid out in front of you like a carpet, and the fresh fish on your plate are lightly grilled to perfection. Add a beautifully-chilled Champagne and you will no doubt experience one of life’s ultimate dining moments.

The only dedicated bar at the Resort, this is a bright and boisterous venue, absolutely full of life. Guests can gather here for a cold drink and a snack to keep you going until dinner. Later into the night, be sure to return for live music, cocktails and an infectiously vibrant atmosphere.

If you’re not feeling the water one day, never fear, as there is plenty to keep you entertained on dry land. Tennis lessons, Zumba, golf, table tennis, beach volleyball… All these and plenty more besides are available to you as nearby sporting activities.

The majority of activities in the resort are complimentary, though some do require some additional payment. The Resort also has a partnership with the nearby Tamarina Golf course, providing golf lovers with the perfect opportunity to combine a holiday in paradise with a few rounds on a beautiful course just 5 minutes away from the hotel.

The spa has four treatment rooms and two couples rooms, plus a sauna, hammam, hairdressing and a beauty parlour. Although both the sauna and hammam are free, advance booking is advised.

Sand Suites Resort takes its role in the community seriously, with an overall aim to support the locals in any way they can. Examples of their initiatives include:

Sand Suites is active on a number of fronts when it comes to the eco-friendly practices. From 2020 onwards, they are looking to increase the efficiency of their energy use, thus minimising their carbon output, as well minimise and eventually eliminate the use of single-use plastics, replacing those items with reusable and biodegradable products.

Water management and waste management are also both on the minds of the resort’s managers, as they look to reduce and reuse as much as possible. Paperless check-ins and check-outs, for example, plus the use of QR codes on menus, drastically reduce the use of paper.

Sands Suites is committed to minimising their impact on the environment, in an effort to preserve the diverse flora and fauna for tomorrow’s generations. To ensure they achieve their goals, they have outlined a number of practices and initiatives in their Sustainability Policy, which includes:

• Appoint a dedicated Green Team to focus on environmental issues and encourage the generation of ideas and the implementation of appropriate measures
• Comply with local laws and authorities governing the environment, and actively look upon ways to improve these guidelines
• Sustainably manage water and energy use and reduce waste and carbon emissions
• Take part in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation at both local and national levels
• Purchasing environmentally friendly products from local sources
• Implementing a reef conservation program
• The reduction of waste and increase of recycling
• Growing an organic garden
• The monitoring of their environmental impact to ensure guidelines and targets are met

This policy is consistently revisited in case amendments need to be made to keep up with environmental changes and stay one step ahead of any future changes.
