The main lodge is accommodating with its lavish lounge, bar and dining areas, as well as hosting an expansive viewing deck with impressive views and as an elevated outdoor boma, perfect for campfires under the star-scape. The luxury tents are tucked away beneath the treetops and lush riverine vegetation and offer serene lodging that is both authentic and elegant.
Bush Lodge is a picturesque 5-star lodge found only 45 minutes drive east of Port Elizabeth and transports guests to another, better world. Bush Lodge is set in the spectacular Amakhala Reserve in an open valley flanked by rolling hills and lush riverine vegetation. Here, discreetly tucked between the treetops, is an intimate lodge of wood, canvas and thatch – the perfect base from which to explore this rustic slice of the African wild. In addition to the lodge’s sumptuous lounge, bar and elevated outdoor boma. Private plunge pools, on-site therapists and alfresco double showers set the tone for a focus on comfort. Each of the 8 private rooms offers en-suite facilities, private lounge and climate control.

Kariega Homestead

Located in a remote part of Kariega Private Game Reserve, Kariega Homestead offers an exclusive experience for families or groups of friends who are looking to stay in their own private safari lodge. The Homestead consists of seven luxurious en-suite rooms, a lounge and dining room, a bar and entertainment area, kitchen, laundry room and play area. Guests can enjoy delicious meals whipped up by their own private chef, and embark on exciting game drives with a private ranger and guide. The lodge rests beside a beautifully manicured lawn and refreshing swimming pool, offering incredible views of the African wilderness where guests can enjoy incredible wildlife viewing including the famous Big 5.

Kariega Main Lodge

Main Lodge (4-star) offers families, friends and couples a relaxed and friendly environment to enjoy the African bush. All the log chalets are air-conditioned, with en-suite bedrooms, large private viewing decks and some with private pools. Each has a spacious lounge and living area which is great for socializing before retreating to the privacy and comfort of your bedroom. The lodge has been expertly integrated with the surrounding bush to create a natural environment where guests can enjoy traditional meals in the restaurant or boma, a drink at the bar or a quiet swim in the pool. Spa treatments on offer in the new Wellness Centre. A daily children’s programme is available.

Kariega River Lodge

River Lodge at Kariega Game Reserve is a beautiful safari lodge that stands on the banks of the Bushman’s River. Guests can enjoy an incredible safari experience with two game drives each day in the private Kariega Game Reserve. This tranquil stone and thatch sanctuary blends into the natural landscape and offers 10 luxurious and air-conditioned suites with a stylish yet traditional safari design. Kariega Ukhozi Lodge

Kariega Ukhozi Lodge rests within the 10,000-hectare Kariega Game Reserve, overlooking the rolling hills and lush green valleys of the Eastern Cape bushveld. Featuring 10 spacious and luxurious log-built suites, the lodge enjoys the perfect location for viewing the incredible local wildlife including the famous Big 5 and a plethora of amazing bird species, and guests can delight in exploring the verdant landscape of the private reserve with two daily game drives.
Admire the endless treetop and river valley views from the comfort of the refreshing swimming pool, or escape to your very own private plunge pool and enjoy a relaxing soak in the cooling waters. The lodge also includes a large lounge space where guests can interact and swap exciting safari stories, a fine restaurant and a boma for romantic meals under the rich African starscape.

Lalibela Kichaka Lodge

Lalibela Kichaka Lodge is a charming natural stone and thatch building that blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, while offering guests a five-star experience in the heart of the wilderness. After being re-built in 2020, the updated Kichaka Lodge is a modern uptake of traditional safari style and the ambience created is one of comfortable elegance.
 
Guests can enjoy incredible wildlife viewing from the comfort of the expansive viewing deck which overlooks Kichaka Lodge’s waterhole where animals gather to drink, bathe and play. Watch huge grey elephants wander through the greenery, pushing trees aside as they move, or herds of giraffe stroll across the horizon, casting long shadows. There is also a sociable cocktail bar and sitting area where guests can converse and swap exciting safari stories with one another while enjoying a refreshing beverage; and on clear evenings guests can delight in fireside dinners, held in the atmospheric boma under a sky of dazzling stars.

Karoo Lodge at Samara

Karoo Lodge is situated within the peaceful Samara Private Game Reserve, surrounded by 27,000-hectare of pristine wilderness and resting in the shade of a natural amphitheatre of mountains. The lodge features a warm and inviting living room with a luxurious bar area and cosy fireside seating. A large dining room with a fireplace is used for indoor dinners during the chilly winter evenings, and when the weather is pleasant, guests can enjoy romantic candlelit dinners out on the verandah, or in the boma, a traditional reed enclosure warmed by a roaring fire. The pool is fenced off from the spacious main lawn and has a covered gazebo area for warm summer evenings.
Karoo Lodge consists of nine double rooms and can cater for solo travellers, couples and families. The lodge can also be booked for the exclusive use of up to 18 guests, offering an incredible private safari experience in this tranquil and comfortable setting.

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge

Ecca Lodge rests in the Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, overlooking breathtakingly beautiful scenery and a dense valley of verdant trees, rich flora and incredible wildlife. Nestled amongst the treetops, the six wood and glass suites offer stunning panoramic views featuring an escarpment of steep shale cliffs. With light and airy atmospheres, stylish interiors and wraparound decks – complete with private plunge pools and outdoor showers, guests can enjoy a luxurious stay in the heart of the tranquil wilderness.
 
The family suites include a private vehicle and ranger, and are perfectly suited for 2 adults and 2 children, with two day-beds in the lounge for guests under 16. The lodge is intimate, relaxed and trendy with décor inspired by the vibrant colours and textures of our nearby villages.

Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge

Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge rests within a remote section of a private reserve, offering guests an exclusive stay with uninterrupted views of the sweeping wilderness. The rustic yet modern main building blends into the natural landscape and features large viewing decks to allow guests the best views of the surrounding nature, and the perfect spot for watching glorious sunsets or the incredible kudu as they meander down to the river for a drink.
 
The lodge consists of nine independent suites, all of which feature private plunge pools and a thatched terrace where guests can admire the passing wildlife, including the Big 5, and watch the many different species of birds fly over to the river. At night, the lack of light pollution allows for dazzling star-filled skies and guests can unwind with a refreshing beverage from your in-room bar before snuggling up in your king-sized bed and falling asleep to the sounds of the wilderness.

Kwandwe Fort House

Kwandwe Fort House is a private villa set within the rugged landscape of the stunning Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. Guests can look forward to an incredible safari adventure in the heart of the wilderness, surrounded by rolling verdant plains and scattered vegetation. Elegantly designed and set within a rugged landscape, modernity meets classic safari at Fort House.
 
The exclusive villa features two master bedrooms and two suites as well as luxurious and spacious living and entertainment areas. The house can cater for up to eight guests and includes staff who will ensure every detail is perfect throughout your stay.
 
Guests can enjoy unwinding on the front terrace that overlooks a wildlife-rich expanse of grassland close to one of the major waterholes on the reserve. Here you can look out for the Kwandwe’s prolific birdlife or amazing mammals including the famous Big 5.
 
The solar-heated rim-flow pool shares the same view, as does the boma which is sunken into the grounds of the expansive lawn in front of the house and offers guests a romantic setting for dining under the stars. Fort House’s central location provides easy access to the prime game viewing areas of Kwandwe, while offering a serene and tranquil atmosphere far from the other lodges within the reserve.
