The simple yet homely Steppe Cabins feature 1 double room with a comfortable bed fitted with soft linen, a cosy dining room – perfect for enjoying a romantic meal with your significant other, and a small living room with a single bed. In addition, guests will have their own private bathroom and a kitchen with a cooktop and basic tableware. The Steppe Cabins can cater for up to 3 adults and offer a charming home away from home. The cabins are decorated with a white and wooden colour scheme, with accents of colourful textiles.

The Standard Sea Cabins feature 2 double bedrooms (catering for up to 4 adults), a living room and 1 fully equipped bathroom. Guests can retreat to the ocean view terrace and soak in the reassuring sight of the mighty Atlantic Ocean as waves ripple across the coast. The living room is cosy with a comfortable sofa and minibar and features a small window overlooking the sea – offering the perfect view to sit back and enjoy a refreshing beverage. Full board and activities are included in your stay, as well as use of the mountain bikes.

Wake up to the sounds and sights of the Atlantic Ocean after a pleasant night’s sleep in one of the Superior Sea Cabins. These spacious cabins feature 2 double bedrooms, a living room and 1 fully equipped bathroom. The superior sea cabins offer more room to move around in and are ideal for families, with an ocean view terrace that leads to the golden sands.

The living room features a large window with a beautiful view of the sea, a coffee corner and an exclusive small winery. Play music on the cabin’s Bluetooth speaker and take in the stunning views. Full board and activities are included in your stay, as well as use of the mountain bikes.

Guests at Bahia Bustamante can look forward to three delicious meals each day. Start your morning with a selection of your favourites from the buffet, including cereals, fruits and homemade bread, homemade jams and butter, yoghurt, cheese, and homemade hams. Fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate are also served.

For lunch and dinner, guests can choose from a fixed menu. Enjoy a delectable three-course meal with fresh seafood, pasta, lamb or a range of traditional Argentine dishes. Finish your day with a sweet treat and a drink from the bar.

Visit the peaceful and picturesque Malaspina Cove, where thousands of marine animals can be found. Sail towards the Vernacci Islands, where 400 sea lions lounge playfully in the waters. During the summer from October to March, travellers may also spot the Magellan Penguins and beautiful marine birds who nest here. Enjoy a tranquil sailing experience during high tide hours, and look out for these amazing animals.

Take a restful beach day on the peninsula and admire the sandy beaches, red rocks and crystal clear ocean. The beaches offer a range of activities including swimming either in the sea or in the many natural swimming pools that form between the rocks, biking and trekking. Guests can explore the area, home to a number of important archaeological and geological sites, in a 4×4 vehicle and take in the beautiful landscape views.

Venture across the diverse landscape in a 4×4 vehicle and enjoy panoramic ocean views on your way to the Petrified Forest. Just 18 miles from the lodge, lies a forest of petrified trees from 60 million years ago. Experience a trip back in time as you wander through a landscape once home to the dinosaurs, while lesser rheas guanacos and maras wander between the rows of long-gone trees.

Penguin Island is home to a colony of Magellan Penguins. Located just 15 minutes from the lodge, this charming island offers the rare opportunity to observe these brilliant birds up close, as well as catch a glimpse of their nesting chicks. Magellan Penguins have black backs and white bellies, making them efficient hunters as from above they blend in with the dark ocean and from below they merge with the bright sky. The road to the island also presents the chance to observe a wide range of Steppe wildlife.

Embark on a 4×4 adventure to Aristizabal Cape where the craggy and jagged rocks meet the vast ocean and isolated beaches. View astounding wildlife such as lesser rheas, armadillos, grey foxes and skunks as you explore the cape, and visit the Aristizabal Lighthouse where sea lions can be found lounging on the shore.

Trek along a dry river path through the other-worldly rock canyon, where crimson rocks just through the valley, marked by deep groves from the passage of time. The rock walls stretch up to 15 metres in height and date back to the Mesozoic era, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Tide pools are scattered amongst the rocks, offering a pleasant spot to swim, dip your toes after a long walk and take photographs of the breathtaking scenery. The canyon acts as a natural wind guard, making it the perfect place for nesting birds to settle down and offering incredible bird-watching opportunities.

Bahia Bustamante Lodge is a small, family-run accommodation that aims to promote environmental conservation and keep guests mindful of the importance of protecting this delicate ecosystem where many marine species have made their homes within a protected sanctuary. The lodge participates in scientific research, offering a base for scientists who are working to help conserve the flora and fauna of the area.

This collaboration means that more research can be conducted that will lead to the protection and preservation of this ecosystem, and scientific experts are offered free lodging and support. The lodge has been recognised by UNESCO as an important biosphere reserve for the balance it keeps with nature. The simple lifestyle of those who live here keeps in touch with the traditions of those who arrived in these lands over 50 years ago.

Bahia Bustamante has implemented a reduce, reuse, recycle system to help keep waste at a minimum. Recyclable materials such as paper and aluminium are recycled and wall-mounted dispensers are used in place of single-use plastic bottles. The lodge uses natural spring water and guests are provided reusable bottles to take out during the day in place of plastic ones. To reduce water consumption, guests are encouraged to use water responsibly and greywater is repurposed to water the surrounding plant life.

During the day, an electric generator supplies the lodge with power, and at night the sea cabins are lit using solar power and battery lights. The lodge also uses a Holistic Management of livestock to restore the Patagonian grasslands and solar energy is used to generate electricity on the fields, as well as wind and solar mills that provide the sheep with water.
